You'll own the people, process, and technical direction for systems handling some of the highest-stakes infrastructure in Web3, while staying technical enough that your engineers actually want your opinion on their architecture.</p> <p> </p> <h1><strong>WHAT YOU'LL DO</strong></h1> <div class="p-rich_text_section">You came up as an engineer and haven't fully stepped away from it. You'll lead backend teams day-to-day while staying close enough to the work to shape real technical decisions.</div> <ul class="p-rich_text_list p-rich_text_list__bullet" data-stringify-type="unordered-list" data-indent="0" data-border="0"> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">You lead by doing. When a hard distributed systems problem surfaces, you're in it with your team, not just assigning it.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">You run architecture and design reviews and can defend a technical position when it matters.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">You recruit, develop, and retain strong backend engineers and build a team culture around ownership and craft.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">You work with engineering leadership and other stakeholders to turn roadmap into execution.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">You spot blockers early, whether technical, process, or organizational, and deal with them before they compound.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">You hold a high bar for code quality and system reliability.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <h1><strong>ABOUT YOU<br></strong></h1> <ul class="p-rich_text_list p-rich_text_list__bullet" data-stringify-type="unordered-list" data-indent="0" data-border="0"> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">6+ years of backend engineering experience with 2+ years managing engineering teams in a fast-moving or production-critical environment.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Deep experience building and scaling distributed systems, and can get into the weeds on architecture when needed.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Proficiency in backend languages like TypeScript; comfortable operating across the stack.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Hands-on experience with AWS for deploying and scaling production systems.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">You've grown engineers through direct feedback and creating space for real ownership.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Strong conviction in your technical decisions, but you build alignment rather than push through.</li> <li data-stringify-indent="0" data-stringify-border="0">Previous experience with blockchain technologies, smart contracts, and decentralized finance is a strong plus.</li> </ul> <div class="p-rich_text_section"> <p class="p1"> </p> </div> <p><strong>Equal Opportunity Employer</strong></p> <p>LayerZero Labs
