You will design and deliver event-driven, high-throughput solutions that ensure every pay-in and pay-out is fast, accurate, and resilient. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Working closely with product, infrastructure, and compliance stakeholders, you will shape the technical direction of a domain where the bar for quality is exceptionally high, resilience is built through continuous learning, and every millisecond of performance matters — for the millions of retail users and the businesses that rely on Bitso to power their financial operations.</span></p> <h3><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Reports To</span></h3> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">This role reports to the Nexus Engineering Manager.</span></p> <h3><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Who You Are </span></h3> <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">You are experienced in Java backend development, with a proven track record of shipping production systems at scale.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">You are familiar with event-driven architecture patterns (event sourcing, CQRS, sagas) and have hands-on experience operating Apache Kafka in high-throughput, real-money environments.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">You have designed and implemented distributed, fault-tolerant microservices that handle financial or similarly critical transactional data.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">You have solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), including schema design, migrations, and query optimization.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">You are comfortable with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or equivalent), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">You communicate complex technical concepts clearly in English, written and spoken, to engineering peers, product managers, and senior leadership.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">You work with a high degree of autonomy and ownership — you identify problems, propose solutions, and see them through to production.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">You are familiar with AI-assisted development flow and tools (Cursor, Claude, CodeRabbit).</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">You have a strong sense of urgency and are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-stakes fintech environment.</span></li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Financial Domain (nice to have):<strong> </strong>Familiarity with payment rails, reconciliation or idempotent transaction processing in financial systems is a strong plus.</span></li> </ul> <h3><span style="font-size: 12pt;">What You Will Do</span></h3> <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Own pay-in and pay-out systems: design, build, and maintain the
