This role leads a team of ~8 engineers building the next generation of Coinbase Exchange trading systems, with end-to-end ownership of core exchange surfaces. The focus is on ultra-low-latency, high-throughput systems at scale for institutional clients. Responsibilities: - Lead technical design and implementation of institutional trading infrastructure - Own core exchange surfaces end-to-end, from architecture to production reliability - Collaborate with product, compliance, and operations to ship new trading capabilities - Mentor and develop a team of engineers; set technical direction Requirements: - 5+ years of software engineering experience - Experience in ultra-low-latency, high-throughput financial or trading systems - Strong distributed systems knowledge - Crypto-forward experience preferred (onchain activity, DApp usage, Ethereum familiarity) - Demonstrated use of generative AI tools in daily engineering workflows Target annual base salary: $186,065–$218,900 USD.
